Dr. Crandall was born on 1/10/65 in San Diego, CA and has spent most of her life in Los Angeles, CA.  She received her M.D. degree at UCLA School of Medicine ( Los Angeles, CA) in 1991. She completed her internal medicine residency training at UCLA as well and joined the UCLA faculty immediately thereafter.  In 2004 she completed a Masters of Science in Clinical Research degree at UCLA.  She practices at the Iris Cantor-UCLA Women’s Health Center at UCLA and is Associate Professor of Medicine at UCLA.  Her research and clinical interests are focused on the intersection between menopause, menopausal hormone therapy, and breast cancer.  Her most recent research focuses on the hormonal determinants of mammographic breast density.  (High breast density on a mammogram is a strong risk factor for breast cancer.)  She is an editorial reviewer for multiple medical journals and sits on the Menopause Competency Exam Committee of the North American Menopause Society.  She teaches internal medicine residents as well as medical students.  She frequently lectures regarding menopause, menopausal hormone therapy, and osteoporosis.

      Her other interests include music and linguistics.  She speaks fluent French.
