What is the COE?
The COE stands for "Centers of Excellence," a distinction given to academic health centers which serve as models in women's health by integrating health care services, research programs, public education and health care professional training, community outreach, promotion of women in health professions, and forging links with health care services in the community. There are currently 20 COEs nationally.

Who awards the COE distinction?
It is awarded by the U.S. Public Health Service's Office on Women's Health within the Department of Health and Human Services.

What is the mission/purpose of COE?
The purpose/mission is to serve as demonstration models in women's health for the nation, to improve the status of diverse women across the life span, and to create dynamic, multi-disciplinary, academic health care systems focused on women's health ("one-stop shopping" models).
