The Gonda (Goldschmied) Diabetes Center
is pleased to announce that Osteoporosis testing is now being performed
with our new, state-of-the-art DEXA (Dual-Energy X-Ray
Absorptiometry) bone densitometer, located at the new
Gonda (Goldschmied) Diabetes Center, 200 Medical Plaza, Suite 530.

Its capabilities include routine AP lumbar spine, proximal femur and
distal radius (forearm) scans but also lateral lumbar spine, dual-femur,
whole body BMD (bone mineral density), BCA (body composition
analysis-% body fat) and lastly, a special procedure called IVA (instant
vertebral assessment), which is a lateral projection of both thoracic and
lumbar spines.

Christine Darwin, M.D., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.E. is the attending Physician
who will be performing the interpretation of the DEXA scans and will be
available for consultation.  She is board certified in Internal Medicine,
Endocrinology and Metabolism, and Geriatrics and is ISCD (International
Society of Clinical Densitometry) certified.

DEXA analysis and interpretation will be reported via fax, email or
on-line and hard copies will be provided for the patient?s charts.
