UCLA Osteoporosis Center

The UCLA Osteoporosis Center offers personal consultations to assess risk for, diagnose, and treat this debilitating disease.

Recommendations for lifestyle and diet changes are individually tailored to help offset personal risk factors such as early or post-menopause, family history of osteoporosis, thin body frame, irregular menstrual periods, ages 60 or older, low-calcium diet, and long term use of certain medications. Bone mineral density analysis can assess current bone status and monitor treatment effectiveness.

The Osteoporosis Center uses state-of-the-art techniques for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. These include the latest medications, hormone replacement, and Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) bone density scanning.
